Maybe Keen has in mind more sites, tools & applications being built by and for the empowerment of individuals, rather than for "the crowd." Or if the sites are being built for "the crowd," only as a means of exerting power over this crowd. In the process, terms like "social media" and "community" will lose their appeal. Just thinking aloud here. - D.

I've always felt that the Web 2.0 kool-aid cocktail was infused with a bit of Marxism-Leninism in it, with all its promises of returning power to the people, destroying the media elite, and ushering in a new era of classless, participatory democracy.
